Before you book a pet-friendly stay

Go beyond “pets welcome” and confirm the conditions that affect your stay.

Smart Livings editorial guide · Updated 14 September 2026

Translate “pet-friendly” into a real agreement

A badge is a starting point for questions. Before paying, describe your pet and the actual stay: species, size, number of animals, dates and the rooms or facilities you plan to use.

Confirm these details in writing

QuestionWhy it matters
Are my specific pets accepted?Species, size and number restrictions may differ.
Which rooms and shared spaces can we use?A property may welcome pets but restrict dining or common areas.
Can a pet ever be left in the room?Your meal and activity plans depend on the answer.
What is the total charge?Ask about pet fees, deposits, cleaning and damage terms.
What equipment or paperwork is required?A listing may not contain the full check-in requirements.
What if plans change?Confirm cancellation, weather disruption and date-change terms.

Use a short message

“We would like to stay on [dates] with [species / size / number]. Please confirm whether our pets are accepted, permitted areas, unattended-pet rules, required documents, the full charge and cancellation terms. Could you send the current written policy?”

Keep a dated confirmation

Save the response with the booking details. Reconfirm important conditions before departure. Smart Livings does not maintain a verified accommodation directory; this guide helps you check a provider yourself.
